For Christmas Sake - LGMC Christmas Concert season

December 21, 2008

As many of you know, I’m a member of The London Gay Men’s Chorus, and every year, the chorus puts on a Christmas show for it’s ‘fans’. This year was a show directed by the fabulous Stuart Burrows, entitled, ‘For Christmas Sake’. The idea behind the show was ‘traditional’… and that’s what you got. Beautiful arrangements of Silent Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and my personal favourite  of the season, Over the Skies of Yisrael. Simply stunning.

The choralography this year was also very good. Simple, but effective movement backed up by some fiery dance moves and very witty link material provided by the chorus’ very own Angel Gabriel, Michael Mangion.

Pictures from the season can be viewed by clicking on the picture below…

LGMC - For Christmas Sake

A fantastic season, and the next one should be even better, with the chorus participating in an International Chorus Festival called Various Voices… as well as an international trip to Helsinki planned for the middle part of the year! Fantastic! See you there!

To add to the “sigh” factor… the really sexy Australian diver, Matthew Mitcham, happens to be a gay boy… and has a lovely site dedicated to all his lovely jumps and curves.

Here’s a piccy of him… just so you can see what I mean!!!

There’s No Place like Homo (FFK) - *****/5

August 19, 2008

I know this may be a slightly biased view when it comes to the Fringe and this particular performance… but I don’t care.

I was in Edinburgh on Business and couldn’t miss the chance to see Far From Kansas, the LGMC Commercial Choir, perform their show THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOMO. I’d missed the chance to see it performed at The Kings Head in Islington… so was really looking forward to it.

Well… I was not disappointed! The show was funny, well sung, well choreographed and had a glass of free champers to start it!

Of course I sat at the front, and a few of the chorus boys spotted me singing along to a few of the numbers I know… and yes… I sat on the Second Tenor side!

Hopefully the whole run has been a success, and I’d not have any trouble in deciding to go and see another one of their shows!

Well done boys! You’ve done us all proud!

Sometimes when you’re on the train / tube or a bus, you see someone that is quite honestly gorgeous. Well… such a moment happened the other day on the train coming back from work, so using my VERY best spy methods, I snapped this picture of the cutie for you all to bask in his splendor.

Craig Hill Makes your Whole Week - *****/5

August 4, 2008

So, the second stand up comic, and this time with Gillian, and straight after the fab Caesar Twins.

I love Craig Hill, I think he’s really witty, and can make comedy out of ANYTHING! Bryan isn’t too keen on him, but will go and see him if I promise we can sit at the back. It’s always a good idea to avoid the sharp tongue that resides in Craig’s mouth.

He was brilliant this year, and Bryan enjoyed the show as well from the safety of the 14th row.

Check him out wherever he plays, he’s good fun!

Oh, and he takes pictures of the audience as well….

Iam at the back on the left side… you can see Bryan a lot easier!

What’s Wrong with Angry - *****/5

August 3, 2008

A show which rivals the wonders of BEAUTIFUL THING. WWWA is a show about two guys who mnage to get together even though society seems to be throwing a lot of issues their way. The usual things such as homophobia, Catholic Church problems, school bullying etc etc etc… all play a part.

It carries a powerful message, one which I like. Why? Why do people have an issue with homosexuality?

The play is a hit, and I really recommend you go and see it!

Dante’s Cove… is shit!

July 29, 2008

It’s not often that I turn a DVD off. I’ll usually give it a chance… especially if it has scenes of gorgeous men, erm… enjoying each other… but Dante’s Cove, which is supposed to have a plot and is supposed to be a ’soap similar to Melrose Place.

In my best “gran” impression (see Catherine Tate)… “What a piece of shit!”

Within the 10 minutes I put the DVD in, all that seemed to happen was some sort of S&M scene with a really unattractive woman and a rather attractive fellow who managed to get himself cursed.

Then there was the rather corny, butler scene where the ‘master’ gets shagged by the butler… and the rather … erm… flacid encounter between two guys in a beach hut. Oh… the scene in the taxi was quite funny as well, where two guys get it off in the back seat while the shifty looking taxi driver tries to concentrate on the road, while adjusting the rear-view mirror.

Yes… you guess it, Dante’s Cove is soft-porn!

It took me back to when I used to sneak into the family room as a teenager to watch ‘Red Shoe Diaries’… lol !!!

So yeah… avoid Dante’s Cove, with no plot, no point and dreadful acting… you’d be better watching something like ‘Dallas does Dallas’
