The first time I’ve ever missed a flight

January 13, 2009

Whoops… I somehow managed to miss my flight to Edinburgh today. I ever got up extra early, but alas, it wasn’t early enough. The check in had closed about 10 minutes before I arrived at Heathrow’s terminal 5.

I’m usually really anal about things like checking in etc… but I guess when it’s business, I’m not too worried. The good thing about travelling with my company is that we book Business Class, so I just checked in for the next flight and am now ‘lounging’ in the Terminal 5 Lounges. It’s an amazing building… very space age and all that. I partcularly like the lounge that I’m in. Here’s a piccy of it:

Hopefully I’ll make it to Dalkeith, where I’m supposed to be meeting someone a 11am. EEK! Wish me luck!

Yes, I am a geek

December 2, 2008

Part of my job it to find really pretty bits of software that we could use in the applications I build.

I just stumbled across this VERY pretty web app that I plan on using in future develoments, simply because it is THAT stunning. I particularly like the Client Side manipulation of graphs… VERY kewl!

A whole new world…

July 21, 2008

I stayed after work this evening chatting to Raynee about Project Management Methodology and various other work things, and my goodness have my eyes been opened. Qualifications that can be bolted onto what I do now to increase my ‘EP’ (earning power).

I’ve already booked myself onto Prince 2 (I know about this one)… so will be (if I pass) a Prince 2 practitioner on the 5th September.

So.. ITIL, ISEB and all you other standards… HERE I COME!

Study Study Study Study

June 18, 2006

I’ve been working like a horse for the past few weeks on my course (Project Management) that I’m studying through the Open University.

I have never done such a hard thing in all my life. I’m just about done with my first assignment, which is due tomorrow… so hopefully I’ll get everything done that I need to do.

There’s nothing on the TV.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell of a week!

March 16, 2006

Hello all, apologies for the delay in posting. I’m nursing a sick boyfriend at the moment who doesn’t seem to be getting any better. He has a cold, but it won’t go away… even after a weeks course on anti-biotics! Starting to worry about him now, so I’ve told him to go see the doctor first thing on Monday morning!

Work has just been getting busier and busier… and poor Steve at work lost his father a week ago, so has been off arranging the funeral and other things. Moondrops and Sunshine to his family!

So, with any luck a more relaxing time of life should be coming up soon!

Belfast anyone…

March 7, 2006

Went to Belfast today for work. This of course meant I had to get up at 4:40am… yes… 4!!!!
On the tube for an hour and a bit into Heathrow and then a flight over to one of the smallest airports ever.

Belfast if a lovely little city. Met a few nice people, one of which looked like Clair H from Edinburgh AP… very scary.

Did the meeting thing… and then had a little wonder around the heart of Belfast. The city hall was quite impressive!

Belfast City Hall

Then onto a plane and back to the flat… which was empty coz B was away with a work night out. He’ll be back eventually, but I’m so tired I’ll probably be in bed.

Omega Bloody 6

February 22, 2006

Well today has been an absolute nightmare!

Back in November I placed an order at work for 14 chairs in omage6 colour. Now, these chairs don’t just arrive from around the corner as they are special chairs… from Germany!

Today, we find that I ordered the wrong chairs! Should have been omega5… which is exactly the same chair… but a little lighter in colour! Litterally one tint less that you’d expect… how do I know… I’ve seen the fabric samples!

So now I’m faced with a dilhema… do I ask Boss to take them back, and they take the loss of £3700… or do we order another 14 chairs at a cost of £3700 to us.

Answers on a postcard please… of course, if you want to buy a lovely orange chair… great for the modern office, please give me a call!

PS: watch eBay… you never know!

General guff that may or may not affect you…

February 21, 2006

Hello all,

Yesterday and today have been two of the busiest days I’ve had in a very long time! Work has really spiralled out of control these days! I’m taking on a little extra stuff from my boss, and I honestly have no idea how he copes with everything that he does!

I guess it’s all a matter of getting used to the workload I guess! Work politics aside it’s quite nice to have a decent amount of responsibility in my role!

Yesterday was a killer. I got home and poor Bryan thought I was angry with him as I retreated upstairs to read my book. (Still love you luv!) and promptly fell asleep!
I’m working long hours at the moment to get the work done, but have so far only half cleared my to-do list! Hopefully by the end of the week!

Lesley bought her ski-wear today. She called me up really excited about the whole thing. I think it’ll be fabulous, snowboarding in the highlands! A bit cold but really kewl! (*jealous*)!!!!!

Watching more ice-skating at the moment. The woman aren’t as good as the boys. I think it may be a sexual thing… but they really are tame in comparisson… and that Canadian one was GORGEOUS!

Well, such is… time to go sleep some more! :)
