Day 3 - Hash Machines and Boat Trips

August 19, 2006

Today we woke up a little earlier than most other days and hopped onto the boat to Ibiza Town. The trip takes 1 hours and is stunning! The views are amazing. The boat makes one stop in a little cove which has turquoise blue water, you can see the fish and other marine life swimming around below you!!!

Ibiza Town was nice. It had a lovely Cathedral up on a hill overlooking the town harbour and natives below. It is a fair hike to get to the top of the hill, but well worth it. You can see the airport from up there, but B wouldn’t let me watch an airplave come in… nasty… nasty! (Just kidding love :) )

We had a nice meal in a small square just outside the town wall. The people meandered around us eating over-sized peaches and laughing at the holiday makers paying inflated prices for things they couldn’t pronounce.

We had one of those huge peaches as well, washed clean by a little fountain next to the piazza. Amazing flavour and really juicy!

We then took a walk around the old town and back to the harbour for the 15:30 trip back to St. Eulalia.

After getting back and having a sleep for 3 hours, we went for dinner to a little restaurant at the marina. We didn’t get served and eventually had 1 menu practically thrown at us, so we left and found another place which was wonderful. Best (and most expensive) meal of the holiday so far.We had a lovely waitress who looked after us (she was from Wimbledon), and after a while I started to feel like Shirley Valentine. All the waitress needed to do was offer to move our table to the shore and I would probably have died laughing!

So that was day 3… really good :)

PS: ‘Hash Machines’ explained … we were offered Hash after being in Ibiza Town for about 10 minutes. I was getting cash from the cash machine and the guy thought I was going to buy from him. I thought he was offereing a good exchange rate for money or something and said to him, ‘No, I’m getting it from here.’
He looked very confused.
